CODE OF CONDUCT
The movies may be scary. The art may be macabre. The expression may be extreme. The way we treat each other, however, is very different. We deal in some sometimes uncomfortable topics, and that relies on the continued trust amongst our staff, our artists, and our audience. We reserve the right to ban any person—audience member, filmmaker or other artist, press, our own staff and volunteers, anyone—who betrays that sacred trust.
This Code of Conduct applies to everyone at the venue, as well as everyone in our virtual edition screenings, networking events, special screenings, or social media channels.
We do not tolerate harassment of any kind, including:
Intimidation or threats
Pernicious heckling or disruption during discussions
Disrespectful or Inappropriate outbursts during film screenings:
Note: we fully endorse loud visceral reactions to films. Outbursts of laughter, gasps of fright, SCREAMS! Disrespectful or inappropriate would be more like heckling, texting, or loud derogatory comments. Please remember, often the filmmakers are in the theater with us!
Hurtful or insulting language
Physical assault of any type
Inappropriate physical contact
Unwanted sexual attention
Unwanted photography or video recording
Bullying or stalking
This is especially true when targeting:
Race or ethnicity
National origin
Gender identity or presentation
Sex or sexual orientation
Age
Disability, medical condition or pregnancy
Religion
Citizenship status
WHAT TO DO if you are experiencing threatening or unwanted behavior:
Find a senior staff member of the festival you are comfortable talking to. Any volunteer can help you identify someone to talk to. Any conversations will be kept completely confidential.
The Frida Cinema's managerial staff could be brought in to alleviate any threatening situations.
